First Day! 9-6-10

My first day of my masters course was awesome! We had a short presentation about all of the things that the professors in the department were studying and a little about the program. Then we had a tour of the building, labs, library, and our classroom (where we have free internet from 8am to 8pm everyday, scanner, and printer). After a little break the professors, secretary, and PHD students took us to lunch at a really good pizza place. I enjoyed trying a new type of pizza with horse meat, buffalo cheese, and olives! The rest of the day I spent with a girl from Colombia. She knows a little Italian along with Spanish and English so it was a great advantage going around with her. We went to one of the banks to get bank accounts and then to WIND to get a SIM card for my phone. The SIM card wasn't too expensive and my phone from home works! Earlier I talked with the other students and most of us are getting WIND so that it is cheaper to talk between us. For dinner I went back to a pizza place a couple of blocks away from the dorm. I got a kabob there and it was sooo good! In the evening I hung out with three other students in my masters program who happen to live on the same floor in the dorm as I do. One girl is from Greece, another is from Serbia, and one guy from another city in Italy. It was great just chatting with them about differences in culture between our countries.

The schedule for the masters course says that we have welcome days on Tuesday and Wednesday but they told us today that they don't have anything more for us until the pretest on Thursday. Thus... two more days free... well sort of. I have a lot of administrative stuff still to do on Tuesday and then hopefully I will be done with that.
