Euganean Hills 9-14-10

Sunday, 9-12-10, was a little more relaxing than Saturday but still a full day. In the morning I had tea with Ashok and then we tried to go to Mass at a church only a couple of blocks away at 11am. I had seen a sign in the church previously that showed that Mass was at 11am but when we got there no one was in the church so we continued on to another church. Thus, we were late to Mass at the other church but at least we got to some of it.

In the afternoon Ashok had to go see a friend who was in the hospital. When he and some of his other Indian friends got back we all left for a trip to the nearby Euganean Hills which surround Padova. We walked to the bus station and got tickets for the bus but there was some confusion about which bus we could take to get to Abano and Montegrotto where the hills were so we ended up waiting over an hour for the bus. It did eventually come and we got to the hills around 6pm. Fortunately there was a big tourist map right near the bus stop to guide us on a short hike up the hill. On the way up the hill we took many beautiful pictures of the countryside, vineyards, grapes, flowers, and hills. It was a nice hike and when we reached the top we had a great view of the city. It was a little hazy so the pictures didn’t do the view justice. We returned to get the 8pm bus back to Padova.
